Brett Favre ditched his splint at practice Wednesday for the first time since breaking his right thumb 11 weeks ago.

``It felt awkward, believe it or not,'' Favre said. ``In some ways I had gotten used to the splint and felt protected.''

Favre isn't sure whether he'll go without the splint Sunday when the Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks in a playoff game.

``The big test will be -- hopefully I don't have to find out -- if I get it hit or bent a certain way,'' Favre said.

Favre didn't miss any games after breaking his thumb at St. Louis on Oct. 19 but said he probably would have opted for season-ending surgery had he not stayed in the game and completed 23 of 31 passes afterward.

That ``made me think I could still play,'' Favre said.

And he proved it by extending his streak of consecutive starts to 206, including playoffs, completing a career-best 65.4 percent of his passes and leading the league with 32 touchdown passes.

Not only was his splint gone Wednesday, but Favre didn't have his usual cast of receivers.

Javon Walker (knee, ankle), Robert Ferguson (Achilles' tendon) and Donald Driver (ankle) all are listed as probable for the playoff game.

``It's not a concern, I expect them to play,'' Favre said. ``We want them as healthy as possible, so keeping them out is the best thing.''

Favre said having Monday and Tuesday off did him a world of good after eight hectic days that included two emotional-packed victories following the death of his father in Mississippi.

``I was exhausted mentally and physically last week,'' said Favre, who buried his father on Christmas Eve.
